Histopathological Study of Kidney Tissue Obtained from Partial Nephrectomy in Cases of Renal Stone

Abstract
The kidey stone is one of the most common diseases of the urinary tract, which brings obstruction and pyelonephritis easily and thus it often leads to renal damage.
The recurrence of renal calculi is also quite common.
To investigate the frequency of microscopic calculi in the cases of renal stone, histopathological study was carried out with the renal tissue obtained from partial nephrectomy performed on 21 cases of renal stone. Careful histologic search was made for microscopic calculi and inflammatory evidence in each section, stained with hematoxylin and eosin.
1. 19 males and 2 females were studied in this series.
2. The calcification in the kidney was found in 17 cases (80.9%).
3. The histopathological study revealed 2 cases (9.5%) of the acute pyelonephritis, 19 cases (90.5%) of the chronic pyelonepbritis, which includes 5 cases of the active type, 5 cases of the intermediate type and 9 cases of the healed type.
4, The histopathological study was also made to observe correlation between microscopic calcification and pyelonephritis, and the calcification was found in 1 case out of 2 acute pyelonephritis cases, and in 3 cases out of 5 active type, in 4 cases out of 5 intermediate type, in 9 cases out of 9 healed type of chronic pyelonephritis. The calcifications were found more often in the -chronic type of pyelonephritis than in the acute type.
